I have vast experience with both local and expatriate students and have been working in education for the past 14 years in a variety of different educational settings such as Lorna Whiston Language Centre, after a corporate stint in Singapore and Malaysia. I have a particular interest in Language and Literature and graduated top of my cohort with a Master of Education with a CGPA of 3.7/4.0. I also have a degree in Journalism and had served as a member of a university’s Advisory Board representing the Faculty of Education.I have been teaching students from a variety of local and international schools, building their confidence, and preparing them for IGCSE Checkpoint examinations as well as delivering classes in English Literature, Communicative and Business English to adult learners.

 The first lesson will be an assessment of where you/your child is at according to the 4 strands of language learning: Speaking, listening, reading and writing. We will then work out the schedule based on the learning objectives. As this is a private tutoring session, there will be opportunities to customize the lessons according to students' abilities and learning objectives. For example, an 'express' student would have the opportunity to take on more challenging work and would not only be restricted to learning at their class/age level. Similarly, students who require additional help would require more scaffolding and differentiation to learn comfortably at their pace and current abilities. I can help with that. Let's have a chat!

I am a strong proponent of lifelong learning and believe that students have different learning abilities, and an effective educator would be able to identify and bridge the gap in learning. I have private tutored twenty high school students in English. I have studied in Help University for three years (2017-2020) in Bachelors in Teaching English as Second Language) course. I have done a major role in English Theatre Arts subject hence, I am willing to teach my students English Literature as well. 

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my tuition to the needs of the student. I will tutor in my own home (online teaching) or that of the student. I will vary my style depending on the ability and needs of the student considering their emotional intelligence. I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including modular resits and conduct end of topic tests and mock exams should the student desire. I expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their subject progressions and their individual needs. I expect students to arrive at tuition sessions with a clear idea of what it is they hope to get from the sessions (a habit of planning their lessons and questions). I will provide each student with a progress log and detailed feedback on how they are performing and areas where they need to improve, I may also set work for my students to complete outside of sessions and for this set work I will offer a marking service. I am happy to meet with the parents or guardians of my students to ascertain what they wish their child to gain from classes. I am also happy to meet with parents and guardians regularly during the tuition period to discuss their child's progress and if required I am happy to provide parents with written reports on their child's progress.

My lessons are planned around the needs of my students. We will begin by overviewing your syllabus for whichever required subject and divide everything into categories and lessons. Your challenging and difficult subjects will be given slight priority. I will create a plan and a lesson for each topic for every subject with notes and external links in order to do further research and reading. We will create an E-book or any other form of online notes of your choice to keep updated through the course of your subject which you and I will both add to and structure in a way that you can access any specific detail regarding any subject within seconds. You can choose whether or not you want me to test you or help you thoroughly revise before an exam or a test or for homework. My technique caters to the needs and personality of who I am teaching.
