For each student, I prioritise their own choice of topic to be covered. If they have no preference on which topic to cover, I will do a simple test to measure their level of basic understanding. From there, I devise a specific plan which differs between students. Typical session will start with routine basic exercise. Then I ask them if they have any question regarding the subject from topic currently covered in school or previous tutoring session. Followed by planned topical lessons. Each topic will explained, have simple examples and exercises in between, small test, identify weak spots, explain with different approach and re-test.

Firstly, time management is important for a student to excel in their studies, for example, studying for 3-4 hours a day helps in absorbing the knowledge that is taught in school, thus I emphasize on the hours you put in to study on a daily basis. By doing that, buying exercise books published from bookstores certainly will help improve your grades, thus I will provide exercises that follows the syllabus and give some study tips on how you can improve your grades in school. Moreover, doing past year papers will also help you get good results, for example, biology papers from other states will expose more questions and this will help you tackle your exam much more easily.

I used to teach in a private institution for 6 1/2 years in management field. I do part time job too as a private tutor to a small group of students of 4-5 daily. I focus on teaching Science and Mathematics in English for students who are preparing for UPSR (Primary 1-6). The teaching style varies depending on one individual and also the subject chosen. I usually ask my students to come out with a mind-map after each lesson for a better way to understand each topic taught. My way of teaching does not rely on memorising but I would prefer students to understand and use the concept of application (especially in Science subject) while for Mathematics, tutorials will be given after each explanation to make sure students are able to apply the right way/method of calculation. I would also include innovative way of teaching at which videos on related subject matters will be previewed during the tutor lesson for in-dept study.
