I have been Tutoring A-level students in Physics and Maths for over 3 years. Almost all my tutees have improvements in their grades. I also worked as demonstrator at the Sheffield 2nd Year laboratories. I trained students to use experimental equipment and programming languages. Throughout my PhD, I worked as a lab and tutorial demonstrator, teaching research skills and imparting knowledge to undergraduate Physics students.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that the approach you take with a tutee must be flexible. Everybody needs to be approached in a slightly different way in order to maximize their ability to approach a problem on their own when the exam comes around. I would always be willing to give a general overview of the part of the syllabus that the tutee is struggling with, but at the end of the day the tutee and I must work to recognise where they feel their weakest areas are, and change that into something they feel confident about. The strongest learning tool available to the tutee and I will always be past paper / textbook problems, but I prefer not to encourage a tutee to simply memorize a solution. I will try my hardest to teach the tutee the answers to the question, but I also intend to teach them where the answer comes from, without overwhelming them. I will start a session with a recap and ask the student if there are any areas they would like to focus on based on their own insight. Every tutorial I run will then contain an overview of the equations and facts the student will need to face that topic. Over time I will expect the student to be able to recall or recite the techniques they will need to face each topic at the start of the session. The rest of the session is an exercise in confidence building - taking the tutee through questions, asking them to identify the problem, and the techniques required to solve the problem, and then taking them through the solution step-by-step.

I have been a tutor when I am pursuing my Chemical Engineering Degree in UKM. I teach first year degree students. I enjoy teaching and would like to share my knowledge and experience with anyone.

I believe in theory and practical. For my class there will be more guided practice and discussion for Maths, Chemistry, Science and Physics classes. I can also relate to real life application wherever possible with my exposure in the industry that I have gained. I encourage holistic development for your child, not only via book and the exam, but to explore other extra co-curricular activities. I will not limit myself to tutor just based on the book, but on what's best for my students.

I have experience tutoring SAT Mathematics for a couple of months. I have taught in classroom settings before while at university as a Teaching Assistant. My style of teaching is to show the student how they can derive the formulas and concepts on their own rather than by memorizing them.

Depending on student preference, we can go through their own worksheets, else I could source for books to help with material understanding. We will focus on problem solving.
