Tutoring Approach

In teaching the law subjects , I usually prepare charts to allow my students to see the overview of the chapter first in hand. This would help them to analyse what are the relevant headings in a particular chapter. The chart method also usually help the students I teach with condensing all the information in one piece of paper so that no textbook is needed one day before exams ! Not only preparing the charts is helpful , but of course I tend to explain how and what are all the other relevant information that should go into it in preparing the students for their examination !

If he or she is an intermediate, I’ll go through important concepts and do as many worksheets as possible. There is no shortcut to this, you want flying colours, do it the right way. Besides, no notes will be given as Ill teach them how to take notes effective which will be very useful in tertiary education. I have had thought a few students before they sat for their SPM. I have a degree in education with major physics and minor mathemathics. I prefer more semi-modern approach to teaching whereas nowadays teachers are thought to be more of an facilitator than a teacher. But I found it to be not efficient in class during my internship. Therefore, I prefer the students to completely understand a topic and not simply memorise it. Cause, when they understand it well, they will get an 'A' effortlessly.

As for me , I took 5 A levels, and self-studied my maths modules. And currently studying at Imperial College London in Chemical Engineering.

I plan my lessons with my students or sometimes parents. Ask about their weakness and work from there. The first lesson usually would be for me to understand what type of approach I should take for that particular student. And how fast or slow I should go. I expect that the students to know at least some of the subject they are doing. For example, the textbooks needed for the subjects, topics they have to cover , the topics they are struggling and etc. My lesson only comes one of a kind only when the student is keen and interest in my teaching. I often come out as friend rather than a teacher. I would discuss how the solution is obtained and why is it that way. This helps the student to understand the way maths works rather than blindly following answer scheme. My job as tutor would be making the student understand the topic. I will help with question the students struggle with but overall ill make sure he understands the topics well. As for past year paper or predicting question is not my expertise. I believe, if one can understand the idea behind the topics he or she can answer any sort of question. This skill will be very useful when the student goes to University.
