I usually won't provide students with answer directly, instead I will guide and encourage them to answer the questions and this helps them in understanding as well as remembering the contents better. I have experience in facilitating after-school programs and tutoring for academic subjects. I was a Robotics trainer for a year, taught both Public and International schools students about hardware engineering and software programming. I have led 3 teams of students to participate in MSC APICTA competition and all 3 teams were in the finalist. One of the teams got a Merit award. I also designed and conducted a School Holiday Program focusing on 3D Printing, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. This School Holiday Program is targeting primary and secondary school students.

I believe everyone learns in different ways, there is no one size fits all approach for every student. I have advantages because of my diverse experiences in teaching robotics, programming, learning skills and academic subjects. Here's why:
1. I have lots of ways to explain one particular topic. It is very useful when students do not understand the materials. Students do not understand because the explanation is not simple and it is not their way of understanding things. For example, if you are studying probability, a mathematical formula may not be the best way for you to understand what it means. You may need to experiment and explore it with dice.

2.  My experience and involvement in project-based learning provide wider contexts that can link with the theories students are learning. For example, most of the time students do not even see the real circuit when they are learning circuitry. I can provide the application and relevance of the theories they are learning.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy has always been linking the study topics to everyday situations. When I am conducting a lecture, I would also constantly link my lectures to popular culture (e.g books and movies) so it would stimulate interest of the students rather than depending the brain to memorise the full details. I prefer face-to-face tutor as I believe it will contribute to an effective teaching and communication. As a starter, I would have a simple Q&A session with the students to briefly get to know the level of the students. I would love to teach from the basic provided with sufficient time so the student will be able to tackle up with any kind of exam questions as they have strong basics to apply. Every end of class, I will test the students verbally on the topics that we have learned on that particular that just to makesure that they gained something every time they attend class. I prefer this kind of Q&A question (verbally) as it saves time (tutor can ask and students can answer  more questions in a short time) rather than written test as written task will be handled as homework.
