Experience

As a translator, I know how the Chinese and English languages are structured. When Asian English speakers speak or write, I understand where their mistakes come from. Similarly, when non-Chinese speakers speak and write Chinese Mandarin or Cantonese, I can identify the origins of their sentence structure errors. While studying in Taiwan, I assisted non-Chinese speakers from various countries in learning the Chinese language, and provided private English tutoring to help locals refine their English skills. My ability to navigate both worlds enables me to be culturally sensitive and competitive.

Tutoring Approach

On English learning, there is an abundance of language learning resources to learn from: newspapers and magazines, books and comics, music and drama. For students, I prefer using Singapore English materials as a basis or a bridge to handle exams in Malaysia and IELTS exam at college level. I would encourage them to type to submit their writings. For working adults, I will focus on their needs to handle work and daily life. Task-specified learning is also good, such as being able to read and understand international news, fictions and non-fictions, etc.

I graduated in Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology with a First Class Honour and currently pursuing PhD at UM. By having a strong background in Science and innovative teaching, I manage to produce quite a number of A-scoring students in UPSR, PT3 and SPM.

Basically for different student I will use different approach, either they are more towards listening (story telling) or eye-seeing (picture, video)... my strength is to create games that let student play, have fun and at the same time will learn from it. Tutoring Approach

Lessons are conducted either in English or Bahasa as a medium (cantonese can be use to further explanation) to help students understand the language better. Notes from lessons will be compacted per syllabus for easy understanding through pictograph and color. Lessons will be added with additional information to help prepare student with better idea/view. For language classes additional attention will be given to pronunciation and verbal communication besides writing.
