I am a hands-on teacher, I paint and draw with different medium such as crayon, watercolour, poster colour, colour pencil, acrylic, etc. As a teacher in the preschool, I always planed recycle crafts for my pupils too. I had the experience of teaching art and giving Bahasa Malaysia tuition to local and international students from 2005 – 2018.

My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things unless it’s really necessary.

I am a patient teacher, but can also be firm when necessary. As a primary school teacher, I often have to emphasise on discipline of the students. I am a good reader of kids' personalities, so I am able to adjust teaching styles to catch the child's attention and focus. I am a versatile artist - I know various mediums and styles of drawing and painting, including handicraft (clay, sewing, etc). As for fitness, I have experience as a trainer for adults, so I am able to motivate children to stay active, increase their stamina, with the correct methods.

Tutoring Approach

Each individual is assessed and lessons are planned according to their levels and capabilities. Every initial lesson are steps to assess exactly where the little artist's strengths are, as art is a vast ocean of possibilities. Once the student's passion and skill are prominent, more focus will be put on that to grow, but not forgetting to understand the basics of other genres as well. Sometimes some form of English stories or literature will be implemented to widen their creativity in art. The requirement is 2 hours per session (rates are per session). In fitness, assessment is also required to determine the child's level of fitness. He/she will then be trained to improve basic techniques, stamina, motor skills, balance, etc. Monthly assessment will be taken to keep track of progress. The requirement is 1 hour per session (rates are per session).
