I am a full time engineer in Semiconductor field. Being in the industry for 6 years made me realize that it is very important for students to have critical thinking and problem solving skills in order to thrive in the society. I believe everyone is able to understand and tackle subjects in school, if taught the right way. General teaching might not push one's learning potential to the max, and this is where private tutoring comes in effective by customized approach.

Tutoring Approach

The most important part is to understand student's way of thinking, understanding capability and problem solving skill. From there, I will try to align with syllabus conventional questions and spark student's problem solving skill with non-routine questions, or how matters learnt can be applied in real life.

I am a fresh graduate from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak with a bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (Software Engineering). I  graduated from Penang Matriculation College. Along with my degree, I have a work experience as a part-time home tutor. I have been teaching subjects mathematics, science, and computer science for secondary and primary school.

Tutoring Approach

If I notice a student is struggling to comprehend concepts or complete assignments, I typically request a meeting with the student to discuss their progress. This allows me to communicate with students individually so I can better understand what factors are affecting their achievement. When I know what's causing students to underachieve, I can better integrate improvement plans or strategies that help them bring up their grades.

Experience

I used to teach in a private institution for 6 1/2 years in management field. I do part time job too as a private tutor to a small group of students of 4-5 daily. I focus on teaching Science and Mathematics in English for students who are preparing for UPSR (Primary 1-6). The teaching style varies depending on one individual and also the subject chosen. I usually ask my students to come out with a mind-map after each lesson for a better way to understand each topic taught. My way of teaching does not rely on memorising but I would prefer students to understand and use the concept of application (especially in Science subject) while for Mathematics, tutorials will be given after each explanation to make sure students are able to apply the right way/method of calculation. I would also include innovative way of teaching at which videos on related subject matters will be previewed during the tutor lesson for in-dept study. 

Tutoring Approach

Teaching and Learning Approach: Private Tutoring (30 minutes - 1 hour). Tutorial (30 minutes - 1 hour). Lesson Preview will be conducted at every beginning of the class. Printed out notes and tutorials will be given to each student at every beginning of a new chapter. I have two progressive tests will be conducted in a year to test the student's understanding.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering and had 6 years experience in the field of teaching. I have my own method in tutoring inattentive and struggling students. The subjects that I teach are Additional Maths, Mathematics, Science and Computers.

Having a friendly and patience personality to do explanation and demonstration to the students. Based on my study experience, I realised that it is important for a student to understand the subject instead of just memorise the formula without understanding.

Practices make perfect. I will make sure that the students do more exercise to get familiar with the style of the questions. Explanation to the students based on their mistakes will enhance their memory and technique to answer the questions.
