Challenging areas are given more attention, while a systematic approach is used to reduce mistakes and improve response quality over time. I find that one of the reasons why many students fail to succeed in exams is because they are unsure of what is expected of them or how an examiner might view their work. • Believing that language learning should never be contained within a textbook or the four walls of a classroom, my approach focuses on language aspects that are relevant and immediately applicable to a person’s daily life. In this way, students have a greater chance of remembering and using what they’ve learnt in lessons. Meanwhile, a heavy emphasis is placed on aspects like vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, as I believe these to be the core of language learning and necessary for long-term improvement. In order to improve fluency, students should expect to engage in relaxed discussions on up-to-date topics that match their interests, while occasional role-plays or games will be used to practise vocabulary or grammar.
