Each class would not be more than 5 students for me to give thorough attention on them and their work. My benchmark is usually based on the potential the students can reach, based on their capability and efforts combined.

I would take the time to understand the students first, conversing with them and taking simple tests to see where they are. From the very first lesson, I would be very clear of my expectations, explaining thoroughly how lessons are taught. The student will need to be as comfortable as possible knowing how strict each lesson will be. Lessons are conducted on an hourly basis. 15 minutes on teaching the topic, 15 minutes on recall and understanding. The next 30 minutes will be on application, exercises and tests with 5-minute break in between. I use past year questions, questions from other schools and states. I go through all questions and explain those that were incorrectly answered. Homework is usually given after each lesson.

Children aged from 5-7 are at the primary age of learning. This is the period when their brain acts as a sponge, and it is extremely important to instil habits of reading in their daily life as well as feeding onto their curiosity as their brain starts to develop and craves for knowledge. As I can converse with all three languages, the children I have taught are very warm towards me. That will ultimately help the child's learning curve in the upcoming classes, for sure. Furthermore, I have the patience and care to find the right approach for your child as every child is different. In the first few classes, I would encourage parents to kindly not be in the presence of the class and children will tend to seek for confirmation or support from parents if they are nervous or scared. In conjunction with that, it would be greatly preferred for students to have a proper study area with quiet ambience to maintain the child's focus. Young children are easily distracted and as mentioned below, their attention span is rather short. I will also keep an eye on their posture as a child's sitting position plays a part as well in their learning curve. For English, my lessons are filled with games, picture dictionaries and sequenced pictures to allow the students to feed on their excitement for their next lessons. We will cover all of listening, writing, speaking and most importantly, reading. However, I strictly encourage children to have a maximum of 60-90 minutes of class maximum as a child's attention span is very short. I do not wish to bore the child and affect his/her learning curve. As for Mathematics, children aged 5-7 will be learning with puzzles as well as picture activities to help them understand. Children aged higher will either proceed or work towards progressing functions beginning with addition, subtraction, multiplication and then division. Of course, these will all depend on the child's ability given their previous classes attended, if any.
