Tutoring Approach

The key to success in subjects such as Economics and Business is to have a thorough understanding of the material. Memorising definitions and concepts word for word is highly discouraged. Questions are constantly changing from year to year, as such, making sure that students have the skill to apply theory to different questions and scenarios is my top priority. I identify major key points and concepts of a chapter, and methodically explain them step by step with breaks in between for questions. I make concepts easy to understand by using relevant and relatable examples. I sprinkle in real life examples, current events and updated statistics as well, which students can use to enhance their answers, especially for essay or extended response questions. Stickman drawings are my forte, and have been proven to be exceptionally useful for students to understand complicated topics such as bonds and investments. Combining relatable examples, current events, stickman drawings and plain English explanations, students are able to grasp concepts with ease. My students are exposed to a variety of past year questions, usually after every topic. They are drilled with every section tested in their exams, commonly multiple choice questions (MCQs), short and extended response questions. I provide detailed feedback on homework completed by my students, mainly for subjective or open-ended questions, and explanations for any confusing MCQs. Closer towards exam periods, I carry out time-based practice, to hone my students’ time management skills, which then allows them identify areas of weakness. I cover topics which the student is not too confident in, so no time is wasted explaining something they already know, unless requested. My lessons are a safe space where students are encouraged to ask questions, ensuring there are no gaps in their knowledge of the subject. I have my own resources and materials, accumulated throughout my teaching career which will be provided exclusively to my students. A key benefit my students have is that they can message me at any time to ask for help outside our tuition sessions.

I am a qualified LECTURER who specialised in teaching ECONOMICS  and BUSINESS STUDIES subjects. I have been teaching more than 6 years, trained by CAMBRIDGE Examiner from London on how to mark exam papers. Lively example, interaction and simplified methods are used during the lesson 50% of my previous student obtained A in their exam and ALL of them show improvement after the lessons. My students are  ranging from Degree, IB, foundation such as MUFY,  A level, IGCSE, GMAT, AUSMAT, AQA and others. I have my OWN ACADEMIC CENTER for one to one and small group tuition. I also conduct VIRTUAL classes via SKYPE students from ASEAN countries.

Business and Economics subjects are a lively subjects, it should be taught in a LIVELY and INTERESTING way. Therefore, i always use examples (students' daily life) and latest business issues and that happened around to stimulate interest. Teaching is about the interaction between the teacher and students. Interaction, Q&A are used in the lesson to groom their analysis and evaluation skill, which is an essential for their exam. COMPACT NOTES will be given Lastly,  EXAM SKILLS will be taught from the FIRST LESSON onwards. I marked exam papers before, therefore, one of the approach that i do would be helping students to WRITE EFFECTIVELY to get high marks in exam.
